Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 4pm (40 hours/week)

Position Overview
We are seeking multiple dedicated Special Education Teachers who are passionate about working with students who have learning, mental, emotional, or physical disabilities. Someone who can adapt general education lessons and teach various subjects to students with mild to moderate disabilities. Someone who also can teach basic skills to students with severe disabilities.

Responsibilities
 

• Assess students: Evaluate students' skills and educational needs  
• Develop IEPs: Create Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for each student that address their unique needs  
• Adapt lessons: Modify general lessons to meet students' needs  
• Teach: Teach students in a variety of ways, including as a class, in small groups, and one-on-one  
• Track progress: Monitor students' performance and update their IEPs throughout the year  
• Communicate: Discuss students' progress with parents, other teachers, counselors, and administrators  
• Prepare for transition: Help students prepare for the next grade and for life after school  
• Ensure compliance: Ensure programs comply with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)  
• Complete paperwork: Develop, complete, and maintain paperwork as required by local, state, and federal guidelines  

Qualifications

• License/Certification: BS Degree and NYS Certification in Special Education
• Experience: Prior experience in Special Education is preferred.
• Skills: Strong communication, collaboration, and documentation skills, with a compassionate approach to supporting Student’s development.
