We are currently seeking a dedicated Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to join our team and make a positive impact on student health and well-being.
Position Overview:
The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) will provide direct care to students, assist in managing chronic health conditions, and promote health education. You will play a critical role in supporting the school’s health services team, ensuring compliance with district health policies, and fostering a safe environment for students to thrive academically.
Responsibilities:
- Student Health Services: Provide direct care to students with various medical needs, including administering medications, monitoring health conditions, and providing first aid as needed.
- Health Assessments & Monitoring: Conduct health screenings and assessments, including vision, hearing, and scoliosis checks. Monitor students with chronic health conditions and collaborate with parents, teachers, and healthcare providers to develop appropriate care plans.
- Health Education & Promotion: Educate students and staff on basic health practices, hygiene, and illness prevention. Provide guidance to students regarding health-related issues.
- Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate student health records, ensure all documentation is completed in accordance with school and district policies, and comply with state and federal regulations.
- Emergency Response: Respond to medical emergencies, provide first aid, and assist in emergency evacuation procedures when necessary.
- Collaboration: Work with teachers, administrators, and other staff to promote student health and well-being. Consult with parents regarding health concerns and provide resources as needed.
- Other Duties: Perform other related duties as assigned, including assisting with immunization tracking and the coordination of health screenings.
Qualifications:
- Current and valid Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license in the state of California.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification.
- Prior experience in a school or pediatric setting preferred, but not required.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and collaborate in a team environment.
- Knowledge of health regulations and best practices in school health services.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism at all times.
