Job Title: ESL Teacher (K-8)
Location: Memphis, TN

Position Overview:
We are looking for a dedicated ESL Teacher to work with students in grades K-8 across two school campuses in Memphis. This role provides a unique opportunity to guide students in achieving English language proficiency and supporting their academic and personal growth.

Key Details:

• Pay Rate: $38 - $40 per hour (W-2 position w/ benefits)
• Schedule: Full-time, in-person, 8-hour days
• Dates: Starting immediately through May 23, 2025

Caseload:

• Total of 25 students in the ESL program
• Middle School: 5 students
• 5 students eligible for exiting (close to achieving English proficiency)

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in education (preferred)
• Valid teaching credential with English Learner Authorization (required)
• Bilingual in Spanish (preferred)
• Strong skills in data analysis to track and support student progress
• Experience working across multiple grade levels

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Course Planning & Development:

   • Develop and adapt lesson plans tailored to a diverse range of student abilities and backgrounds.
   • Implement engaging teaching strategies, such as lectures, projects, exhibits, and multimedia resources.

2. Student Monitoring & Evaluation:

   • Regularly assess and adjust coursework to meet students’ needs and ensure steady progress toward English proficiency.
   • Maintain detailed records, including attendance, student progress, and other relevant notes.

3. Building School Community:

   • Partner with parents to develop their English skills, helping them better support their children’s academic journey.
   • Follow Journey Community Schools’ guidelines to maintain a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment.
