Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM

Pay: $52.00 and up (Based on Experience)

Position Summary:
 The School is seeking a dedicated and qualified Education Specialist to work with our 3rd-5th grade scholars in a full inclusion special education setting. The ideal candidate will collaborate with general education teachers in a co-teaching model to provide specialized support to students and ensure they have access to the curriculum, while promoting academic and social growth. The Education Specialist will be instrumental in ensuring that all students, regardless of their abilities, have the opportunity to thrive in a challenging and supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:
Planning & Instruction:
  • Develop ambitious, measurable goals to increase student achievement for your caseload of scholars.
  • Collaborate with co-teachers to plan lessons, units, and assessments using Common Core state standards, ensuring that plans are differentiated for a variety of learners.
  • Engage and challenge students during instructional time, using flexible strategies to ensure all students are actively participating and meeting learning goals.
Execution & Student Engagement:
  • Use effective strategies to check for understanding, and adjust instruction based on real-time feedback from students.
  • Maintain a focused, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment that maximizes learning time.
Assessment & Data Tracking:
  • Administer daily exit tickets and track student progress, adjusting instructional practices based on data.
  • Regularly communicate student progress with families and other stakeholders.
Classroom Culture & Behavior Management:
  • Foster a classroom culture that emphasizes high expectations, respect, and equity.
  • Manage student behavior using restorative practices, creating a positive learning environment.
Case Management & Compliance:
  • Adhere to IEP timelines and ensure all legal requirements are met.
  • Write and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) that promote student growth and maintain accurate documentation.
Collaboration & Leadership:
  • Collaborate with colleagues to contribute to a positive and inclusive school culture.
  • Participate in school-wide events to support stakeholder engagement and strengthen the school community.
  • Demonstrate a growth mindset by seeking feedback and continuing professional development.

Qualifications:
Required:
  • A valid California Education Specialist credential (mild/moderate).
  • Successful experience in a classroom setting, with a demonstrated ability to support diverse learners.
  • Must pass a criminal background check.
Highly Desired:
  • At least 2 years of full-time teaching experience in an urban, underserved community.
  • Bilingual abilities (Spanish or Vietnamese) in speaking, reading, and writing.
  • Leadership or counseling experience, and/or experience teaching enrichment classes (e.g., music, art, sports).
Knowledge of:
  • Special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Behavior management techniques and learning theories.
  • IEP development, implementation, and compliance.
  • Assessment practices, particularly as they relate to students with disabilities.
Skills:
  • Strong collaboration and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, staff, and administrators.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and execute individualized learning plans.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to exercise initiative and sound judgment.
